    Richard Alpert is a long-time resident of a certain uncharted island. Since 1867, he has lived and worked there as an adviser and intermediary between the island's inhabitants and Jacob, the island's protector. He perpetually appears to be in his late 30's to early 40's. Depending on which point of canon he comes from, this is a result of immortality and agelessness given to him by Jacob. However, post-canon, Richard is no longer immortal and has begun to age normally.

    Richard tends to be quiet and observant. He is not shy, often stepping up to be the spokesperson of his group, unafraid to speak his mind or argue his cause if he feels it is necessary. By default, he tends to be a calm, reserved man, capable of kindness or subtle mockery and cruelty depending on his mood; but in unfamiliar situations Richard is susceptible to emotional highs and lows.

    Like many Lost characters, Richard' had an unhappy past. He was widowed, imprisoned, sold into slavery. He has spent the past 140 years trying to remove himself from his tragic past—but, like so many characters in his canon, he hasn't yet managed to let go and move on.

    Richard Alpert is a fictional character from the American television drama LOST, created by Jeffrey Lieber, J.J. Abrams and Damon Lindelof and run by Lindelof and Carlton Cuse. The character was played on the show by Nestor Carbonell. The player behind this journal is not associated with anyone involved in the creation, production and perfomance of both show and character.
